ASSISTING LOCAL SHELTERS
The mission of the Makana Project is to improve the well-being of homeless individuals in Hawaii.
As an expression of our mission, we seek out opportunities to improve the circumstances for families and children living in emergency and transitional housing.
There is significant runway to support the special requests of local shelters.
EXAMPLE PROJECTS:
- Building reading rooms and designated study areas in emergency shelters
- Providing transportation to extracurricular programs hosted by other nonprofit organizations
- Donating teddy bears to emergency shelters to comfort kids in a new living environment
- Gifting new shoes to children who are heading back to school
